F. M. University seeks to excel
in five ethos:
The culture of Excellence
The Culture of Innovation
The
Culture of Quality
The
Culture of Flexibility and Dynamism
The
Culture of Sustainability
Aware of the fact that excellence results from hard, sincere
and honest work, the university PG Departments and the affiliated
colleges have to continuously and methodically strive for it.
It has to be motivated persuasively for which necessary structures
are to be developed. With hard and intelligent work, centres of
excellence have to be created in the all the Post Graduate Departments
and major affiliated colleges. Complementarity of specialisation
have to be worked out for minimising financial investment, necessary
for achieving excellence.
The culture of innovations can be achieved by generating some
thing new and valuable to the society around. Contemporary knowledge
based economy faces fierce global competition and the only way
to cope with such a situation, is that the university should have
proactive innovators and thinkers committed to the cause of the
society.
With the world moving towards the 'knowledge based society',
the importance of the 'knowledge' has increased every where. The
'rich-poor' divide, may as a consequence be turned to 'knowledge
rich' and 'knowledge poor' society. In such a situation, the university
has a vital role to play in disseminating knowledge in the years
to come. In India, more than 300 universities are engaged in imparting
training and education, but there is a rising concern that there
is a continuous increase in value gap in education systems. The
university should try its best to minimise this value gap. Skill
alone is not adequate for competence. Values plus skills make
the picture holistic. In this line, the university must be determined
to discourage the perverted application of sharp minds. The courses
offered by the university should add the human value in the education
system. In its efforts to build a strong and proud nation, the
university through the courses imparted to students must establish
strong rapport between its essential cultural values and the modernity
reflected in study of modern science and technology.
The university being knowledge centre must see beyond cities
towns. It has to recognize innovative people in rural India (grass
root innovator). It should look out innovations of school drop-outs,
as also slum dwellers. In this connection, it may start a grass
root innovation augmentation network in its affiliated colleges
and take steps to promote a Patent Cell and encourage the intellectuals
in and around Balasore and Bhadrak for awareness about the Intellectual
Property Right.
The courses should add to the mental and moral strength of its
products and should awaken them to new consciousness and qualities
of leadership in different walks of life. F. M. University proposes
to be a useful 'think-tank' engaged in reshaping the society in
undoing the evils which still exist. The programmes and activities
taken up in the university should promote mental and attitudinal
changes in people and enthuse them to face challenges of life
boldly and successfully. It has to have its major attention on
· Human Resource Development
· Capacity Building in the thrust area specified by the
Government from time to time
· Entrepreneurship development in the local area
· Technology Development
