2 Eligibility criteria for P.G Courses?
 

A. Subject to the specific provisions mentioned against each course in order to be eligible for admission into any Post-Graduate course, a candidate should have passed three year Degree Examination in Arts/Science/ Commerce of F.M. University or any examination recognized equivalent thereto by Academic Council with Honours in the concerned subject or having the concerned subject as a pass (Core) subject with 50% marks in the aggregate at graduation level excluding Foundation and Ancillary Courses.

B. Candidates who have appeared at the qualifying examinations and the results there of are awaited are also eligible to apply. However, they have to submit the Provisional Certificate and Mark sheets of the qualifying examinations before the Entrance Test schedule; otherwise their case for selection shall not be considered.

C. In case a candidate wants to apply for admission to more than one Department, he/she can do so in filling up separate forms on payment of dues and appearing at tests conducted by the Departments.

3 Facilities available in Fakir Mohan University?

(i) University Sports Council The University Sports Council conducts Annual athletic meets besides conducting various activities in affiliated colleges. It monitors the participation of students in various inter-University and inter state sports and athletic meets.
(ii) NSS The University organizes various social work/ service programmes in the adopted villages and in the University campus.
(iii) University Student's Cultural Council Organises cultural programmes.
(iv) Personal Advisory System The University has introduced Personal Advisory System for proper interaction of students and teachers. This promotes student's welfare and atmosphere conducive to study in campus.
(v) Evaluation of teachers The University implements the Evaluation of teachers by students through a structured questionnaire.
(vi) Training and Placement Cell (i) The University has already interacted with various industries for vocational training and placement of students.
(ii) The Cell has plans to take up career guidance for students and arrangement of campus interview and organization of Entrepreneurship motivation camp. In 2005 a job mela was organised on 2nd April and representatives of 9 industries attended it.
(vii) Annual memorial lecture series The University organises Annual memorial Lecture series in memory of Eminent personalities of the region- Fakir Mohan Senapati, Kabibar Radhanath Ray, Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, and Kantakabi Laxmi kanta.
(viii) University Library The University Library has already made a collection of nearly 7000 Books(?) and extends reading room facility, Journal section and reprographic facility. It plans to digitise the library soon.
4 Reservation in different subjects are done on which criteria?
 

i) Twelve and Eight percent of seats in each course are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Schedules Castes respectively. However, the unfilled up seats required for ST candidates may be filled up by admitting SC candidates and Vice-versa. OBC and other reserved categories of students will be admitted as per the Govt. of Orissa norms.

ii) Five percent of the total aggregate marks secured by the candidates shall be added to the aggregate marks in qualifying examination in case of children of Ex-defence personnel and for participants in the Inter University Sports and State team approved by the National Organisation (Provided that in order to be eligible for such concession under sportsman category the player concerned should have participated in the respective competitions within two years prior to the date of application for admission.)

iii) One seat in each Department is reserved for physically handicapped candidates. Such candidates are required to produce certificates from the C.D.M.O. regarding their disability for more than 50%. The University may, in case of need, constitute a committee of specialists after receiving all applications and listing the deformities involved to examine the candidates physically to ascertain their claims. On the basis of their finding admission under PH category may be considered. However special consideration shall be made in respect of seats to be reserved for PH category in such cases where more than one applicant apply for studying any P.G. course to keep coherence with reservation by 3% of seats as directed by the UGC.

iv) Special provision for Kashmiri migrant students:

(a) Extension in date of admission by about 30days.

(b) Relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement.

(c) Increase in intake capacity up to 5% -course-wise subject to a minimum of one seat.

(d) Reservation of at least one seat in merit quota in technical/professional subjects.

(e) Waiving of domicile requirements.

(f) Facilitation of migration in second and subsequent years.

5 What is the procedure for submission of application form?
 

Completed application forms in all respects should be submitted / sent to the Head of the concerned Department, Fakir Mohan University, Vyasa Vihar, Balasore-756019 (Orissa) . The applicant should check the following before submission /dispatch of his/her application.

i) The application is complete in all respects.

ii) Application form should be filled in by the applicant in his/ her own handwriting.

iii) The applicant must mention in Capital Letters at the top right hand corner in the front page of application form whether he/she belongs to SC/ST/Physically Handicapped or any other reserved category.

iv) The Declaration Form should be duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

v) The undertaking form should be duly filled in and signed by the applicant or his/her father or natural guardian, as the case may be.

vi) The Index card should bear the full postal address of the applicant written legibly on it and affixing postal stamp of Rs.5/-

vii) Attested copies of the Mark sheets and Certificates of all examinations starting from H.S.C. should be submitted for determining eligibility.

viii) Original Cash receipt of Rs.200/- or Rs.250/- as the case may be in support of purchase of application form.

ix) An attested copy of the caste Certificate in respect of SC/ST candidates from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Deputy Collector or M.L.A. / M.P. or D.W.O., in absence of which the candidates will not be eligible to get concession allowed to SC/ST candidates.

x) An attested copy of the certificate form CDMO regarding his/her disability for more than 50% (in case of physically handicapped candidates)

xi) Attested copies of certificates obtained from competent authority must be submitted in case of candidates claiming concession towards reservation under any other reserved category.

xii) Two attested recent passport size photographs of the candidates.

xiii)A crossed Bank Draft or Banker’s cheque for Rs.300/- (Rupees three hundred only) drawn in favour of the Registrar, Fakir Mohan University and payable at S.B.I., Balasore or UCO Bank, Ganeswarpur Brach (Balasore) towards Entrance Test.

xiv)The envelope containing the application form complete in all respects must be superscribed “Application for admission into………………….courses (subject).”

xv) Two Self-addressed unstamped envelopes of size 10” x 4”.

xvi) The last date for submission of application duly filled in with all the required documents is 01.07.2005 up to 4.00P.M.

6 What is the criteria for the selection of admission?
 

i. Admission cannot be claimed as a matter of right.

ii. Selection for admission into different courses shall be made through written Entrance Test (with coding and decoding system), career marks and viva-voce giving 40% , 50% and 10% weightage respectively. Absence of a candidate in either written or viva-voce or both shall disqualify him/her for admission. The written test will cover Honours syllabi of the subject in the qualifying examination of Fakir Mohan University. For the P.G. Courses in Environmental Science, the question will cover various qualifying subjects.

iii. While calculating career mark, weightage will be given to candidates having secured Honours in the concerned subject only. Honours in other subjects shall be put at par with pass course.

iv. Formula for calculating career marks for admission into P.G. Courses :-

7 What is the procedure of admission
 

Admission to different P.G. Departments will be made by post and not in person. The selected candidates must send the following documents to the Head of the concerned Department, F.M. University by Registered post for admission.

i) Course fee as specified, plus seminar fees and fee towards the blazer as mention at item 13.

ii) College Leaving Certificate in Original from the Institution last attended.

iii) Conduct certificate in Original from the Institution last attended.

iv) Original Mark Sheet / Certificates starting from H.S.C. to last qualifying examination.

(In case of +3 Examination, Marksheets of Pre degree examination and Final examination are to be submitted separately if detailed marks are not provided in the final mark sheet.)

v) Migration Certificate in original for candidate from other Universities.

vi) Two copies of attested passport size photographs.

vii) Original Certificate relating to reserved category.

8 On which date examination is held and on which date result is published?

9 What are the hostel admission rules?
 

i. Hostel accommodation will be provided to students of all P.G. Departments depending upon availability of seats in the Hostels. The University has provision for two hostels:

(i) P.G. Gents Hostel, and (ii) P.G. Ladies Hostel.

ii. Admission:

A) Student seeking admission into the hostels shall have to apply with two passport size photographs in the prescribed form within the due date at the time of admission to the University. The hostel admission form will be available in the Department.

B) After the completion of admission in the P.G. Department the concerned H.O.D. shall forward the applications for Hostel admission to the Warden, P.G. Hostels mentioning the position of the student in the merit list for admission to the Department.

C) The warden shall notify the list of students to be admitted in different hostels with copies to superintendents and Heads of the Departments.

D) The admission for the hostel is for one academic session i.e. June to May only.

E) The selected students shall have to take admission in the hostel through the P.G. Central Office within the prescribed date by paying the following fees for the session.
