Admission Procedure
Screening of Candidates: The initial screening of candidates
is made on the basis of honours in Mathematics/Statistics /Anthropology/Political
Science/ Zoology/Psychology/ Sociology / Geography / Economics
or pass in these subjects with 50% marks in the aggregate (excluding
Foundation and Ancillary Courses) at the graduation level.
Entrance Test and Viva-voce: The candidates are required to appear
in the entrance test for a maximum mark of 100 including written
(60), viva-voce (10) and career (30) with the following weightage
to different levels of education.
Reservation & Weightage
to Specific Categories:
I. Twelve and Eight per cent of seats are reserved for candidates
belonging to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste respectively.
However, the unfilled seats for ST candidates may be filled up
by admitting SC candidates and vice-versa. The OBC and other reserved
categories of candidates are admitted as per the Govt of Orissa
norms,
II. Five per cent of the marks secured by the candidates is added
to the aggregate marks secured by them in the qualifying examination
in case of children of ex-defence personnel and for participants
in the Inter-University Sports and state team approved by the
National Organization (provided that in order to be eligible for
such concession under sportsman category the player concerned
should have participated in the respective competitions within
two years prior to the date of application for admission,
III. One seat is reserved for physically handicapped students.
However, such candidates are required to produce certificate from
the C.D.M.O. showing their disability to be more than 50%. The
University may, in case of need, constitute a committee of specialists
after receiving an application and listing the deformities involved
to examine the candidate physically to ascertain the claim for
admission, and
IV. Special provision for Kashmir Migrant students:
a) Extension in date of admission by about 30 days,
b) Relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10% subject to minimum
eligibility requirement,
c) Waiving of domicile requirement, and
d) Facilities of migration in second and subsequent years.
On the basis of the above procedure, the students were shortlisted
in the previous two academic sessions as below.
