DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES
Seminars
Seminar library : The Department has a Seminar Library, having
various titles of Management related books, Self-Improvement books,
Dictionary and materials related to Communication and Personality
development. The Library regularly subscribes business dailies
namely 'The Economic Times' and 'Business Standard'. Business
Magazines like Business Today and Business World are also subscribed
for the Seminar Library. The Library is managed by a Seminar Secretary
under the guidance of a Faculty-in-Charge and Chairman of Business
Seminar.
Internal Seminar :
The Department regularly conducts Internal Seminar for the students
on every Thursday afternoon on various topics of current relevance
in corporate world. The seminar begins with Key Note Speech by
an Internal Faculty, followed by three student speakers. Some
of the Topics presented are: 'Innovation-A Way of Organizational
Life', 'Advertisement- A Boon or Bane', 'Marketing Strategy in
the New Millennium' and 'Indian Stock Market' .
Expert Seminar :
Once in every month, the Department organizes an Expert Seminar
with the main speaker from Academia and Industry. Mr.R.K.Rai ,
Head(HR), Birla Tyres was invited to discuss on 'Role of HR Manager
in Changing Scenario'. Dr.(Maj.) A.K.Panda, Controller of Examination
was the main speaker on the topic 'Globalisation and its impact
on Corporate Governance'. Mr.Khandelwal, a practicing CA was also
invited to chair seminar on the topic Union Budget .
Refresher Course:
The Post-Graduate Department of Business Management organized
its First UGC Sponsored Refresher Course in Commerce for College
and University Teachers from 9th November to 29th November 2004
at Vyasa Vihar Campus. Thirty teachers form different corners
of the state had participated in this programme. Subject Experts
from different fields like Accounting, Management, IT, Economics
and Statistics and corporate executives had delivered talks as
resource Persons.
Personality Development Program
The program on Development of Communication Skills and Personality
was arranged by P.G.Department of Business Management for the
students of F.M.University during March 14-23, 2005. Twenty nine
students of different Departments of this university had participated
in this university sponsored program. Prof.B.N.Patnaik, Retired
Professor, IIT-Kanpur was invited as Resource person for this
program. The certificates were also distributed to all the successful
participants of this program.
Cultural and Extra curricular Activities
The students of the Department always participate in different
intra university or inter university events conducted by the cultural
and sports societies of the university. Recently the Department
has taken the lead role in conducting the Annual Day function
of the cultural society of the University.
Placement Cell
The University has an integrated training and placement cell headed
by a senior faculty as its Director. Apart from getting the centralized
facilities the department also provides facilities for summer
training of the students and placement assistance to the final
year students. The department is taking steps to publish a placement
bulletin to facilitate the summer training/ final placement of
the students. The students of this Department have undergone summer

Alumni Association
The Department of Business management has taken steps to form
its Alumni. A formal inauguration of the Alumni Meet was held
on August 8th 2005. This will provide a synergy to the activities
of the Department to a great extent.
